A graduate of Lemoyne Normal Institute.,she married Henderson Brown a Pullman porter and moved to Chicago, Illinois in 1897. She was the founding member of several women's clubs and she was a suffragette and a Child Evangelist., Be Don't Just Seem to Be is the story of Adelaide, her family and their life in Chicago in the early 20th Century.
